About the Specialist Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner Role
As a Specialist Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, your role will be pivotal in developing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies that reduce behaviours of concern and promote skill development. You will work in alignment with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, helping participants lead safer, more fulfilling lives.
Your daily work will involve collaborating closely with clients, families, support staff, and allied health professionals to design evidence-based plans that are both preventative and person-centred.

Key Responsibilities of a Specialist Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner
- Conduct comprehensive functional behavioural assessments.
- Develop and implement person-centred Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
- Deliver training and coaching to support workers and families.
- Monitor plan effectiveness through data analysis, observation, and review.
- Ensure compliance with NDIS Practice Standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinical supervision.
- Maintain documentation that meets NDIS and organisational standards.
- Advocate for clients’ rights and promote safe, respectful support practices.
Who You Are – Skills and Qualifications
We’re looking for a values-driven and trauma-informed practitioner who shares our commitment to quality care:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, OT, Nursing, or a behavioural science field.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in disability or mental health.
- Eligible or current NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner registration at Proficient level or above.
- Expertise in functional behaviour assessment and plan development.
- Deep understanding of NDIS Practice Standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong ethical foundation with a commitment to human rights-based care.
